DPH, an anticonvulsant in use for over 20 years, may cause adverse reactions in some persons. A 15-year-old male developed lymphadenopathy and a low platelet count while on Dilantin. Both of these responded when this medication was discontinued. The responsibilities of the prescribing physician in regard to the complications of his therapy are discussed.
