This monograph edited by the Editor of the excellent International Series of Monographs on Child Psychiatry, contains 17 articles by 14 different authors. These chapters include detailed descriptions of the clinical and pharmacological effects of glue sniffing, marihuana, heroin, and paint thinner. The social and economic characteristics of the population from which the typical young drug addict emerges are well developed in these chapters. The addict's habits, attitudes, and practices are described and his relative resistance to a variety of treatment and rehabilitation techniques is eloquently emphasized.
