Abt's Pediatrics was an encyclopedic collection of monographs by various authors edited and systematically arranged in eight volumes by the late Dr. Isaac A. Abt. Volume I appeared in 1923 and contained an introductory essay by the editor on the history of pediatric encyclopedias followed by a chapter entitled "History of Pediatrics" by Fielding H. Garrison, Isaac Abt's classmate and America's outstanding medical historian. The specialty of Pediatrics was in its early childhood in 1923, and Garrison's History of Pediatrics was the first important one in the English language.
