Mothers' Opinions

L. J. FILER JR. M.D., Ph.D.1 and G. A. MARTINEZ 1

1 Ross Laboratories, Columbus, Ohio 43216

The recent publication of Deisher, et al. quantitating mothers' opinions of pediatric care accorded their children has stimulated us to offer comparable observations elicited by mail questionnaires from mothers with infants 6 months of age or less. Surveys of mother opinion were obtained in 1958, 1962, and 1964. Each survey consisted of a nationally distributed sample of over 2,000 mothers using the technique described by Filer and Martinez. The characteristics of the sample reported by Filer and Martinez closely approximate those for the general population of mothers.
