Sex-Linked Imperforate Anus

E. DAVID WEINSTEIN M.D.1

1 Department of Human Genetics, University of Michigan, School of Medicine, 1133 East Catherine Street, Ann Arbor, Michigan

Three families with recurrent cases of imperforate anus are presented. The distribution of cases in these three families suggests a sex-linked recessive pattern of inheritance for this anomaly. It is speculated that the excess of males reported in the literature with this disease may be due in part to sex-linkage.
