Gerald T. Zwiren M.D.1 and Joseph H. Patterson M.D.2

1 Department of Pediatrics, Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta, Georgia.
2 Henrietta Egleston Hospital for Children, Atlanta, Georgia

A case report of an infant with extrophy of the cloaca treated surgically has been presented. The literature has been reviewed and the embryology, pathology, and previous surgical approaches have been described. As illustrated by this case report, a more hopeful prognosis can be expected for at least some of these infants with this complex anomaly.
