Human Genetics

PARK S. GERALD

The author, in the Preface, describes his book as a "survey of human genetics." As such, it is a commendable addition to the growing volume of literature in this area. The ten short chapters include a wide variety of subjects, ranging from human cytogenetics through the genetic determination of protein structure to the mathematical aspects of genes in families and populations. Since this is but one volume of a series devoted to genetics, many subjects are given briefer treatment than might otherwise be expected, and the author refers the reader to other volumes for more extensive discussion of them.
