The Skate Board: A New Cause of Accidents

Within a group of approximately 40 pediatricians practicing in the Los Angeles area, it has recently become apparent that a new juvenile fad, the skate board, is producing an inordinate number of injuries to our patients, particularly fractures of the upper extremities.

Parents seem totally unaware of this danger and the following letter has therefore been sent to the Letters to the Editor Department of the metropolitan daily newspaper, The Los Angeles Times:

"In the hope of catching the attention of parents of skate board riders, I would like to point out the precarious nature of this new mode of juvenile locomotion.
