1 Dr. Pascoe is Chief of Pediatric Service, Naval Hospital, Department of Pediatrics, United States Naval Hospital, Oakland, California, Stanford University School of Medicine, 300 Pasteur Drive, Palo Alto, Calif.
2 Department of Pediatrics, United States Naval Hospital, Oakland, California, Stanford University School of Medicine, 300 Pasteur Drive, Palo Alto, Calif.

1. The first occurrence in children of a sulfaresistant meningococcal infection is reported. The Group B strain which was isolated represents the San Diego resistant strain that proved so difficult to manage at the San Diego Naval Training Center.

2. The implications of these findings are discussed. Pediatricians should be aware of the existence of this sulfa-resistant strain of meningococcus.
