Cortisone for Dermatitis Venenata

Dermatitis Venenata, particularly poison ivy, is indigenous to Logan County, West Virginia. An opportunity to treat well over a hundred cases with oral corticosteroids during the past two years has served but to confirm an impression gained earlier.

Our hospital, a small 45-bed institution, located in Logan, the county seat, services an inordinate number of families receiving medical assistance under state and federal programs. The patients come mostly from the numerous coal camps in the area, some even more than a score of miles distant.
