Gruntled Pediatricians

ALEXANDER RANDALL M.D. and J. PERLINGIERO RANDALL M.D.

Until tonight we had decided to "write-off" Dr. Vandersall's Letter, "The Disgruntled Pediatrician Syndrome" from Pediatrics, 32:465 as from just another unhappy misfit. However, during an evening at one of our country's great Pediatric centers, it was interesting to see that a considerable number of those in attendance took exception to his point of view. While we trust that he will find the desired intellectual challenge in Psychiatry and we agree that most pediatricians could use a much wider experience in this area, we cannot leave unchallenged the implication that many who have recently entered the practice of Pediatrics are dissatisfied.
