Unclassified Mycobacteria in the Etiology of Cat-scratch Fever: A Skin Test Evaluation

HUGH A. CARITHERS, M.D., F.A.A.P.1

1 St. Vincent's Hospital, Jacksonville, Florida

In this study the skin test reactions of 20 children who had recovered from cat-scratch fever, except for one in whom the disease was still active, and 20 controls who gave no history compatible with the disease were evaluated. From this appraisal it may be concluded that skin test reactions give no indication that classified or unclassified mycobacteria are the cause of cat-scratch fever.
