Dr. Talcott Bates of Monterey called the attention of Pediatrics to this group of articles and poems just when we were planning the Commentary and related articles for the June issue. The unique supplement in the March Atlantic offers a reassuring contrast to writings about abused children, if our faith in humanity has fallen so low that reassurances in print are needed.
In its essays about children in relation to divorce, to segregation and integration, to the adult-organized "play" of the Little Leagues (a splendid job) and, indeed, about babies in relation to their mothers, nurses and pediatricians in the maternity ward, the material is somewhat intellectualized in approach.
