An unusual reaction to Achromycin V (tetracycline hydrochloride buffered with citric acid; Lederle) has occurred that we feel should be brought to the attention of the medical profession. It concerns abnormal urinary findings associated with the classic symptoms of diabetes. A brief history of our case follows.
The patient was a 13-year-old boy who had been well until the present illness, except for asthma which has been fairly well controlled with hyposensitization. Two days prior to the present illness he developed a respiratory infection for which he was given Achromycin V.
