In Reply: Materno-fetal Transfusion: A Common Phenomenon?

Alvin M. Mauer M.D.1

1 Cincinnati 29, Ohio

Thank you for the opportunity of seeing letter submitted by Dr. Andrews. I have nothing that I can add to Dr. Andrews' letter, nor do we have any further information of our own about this phenomenon. We had hoped sometime soon to attempt to determine the possible incidence of materno-fetal transfusion in new-born infants, but as yet we have no figures available for publication. However, it would be my impression that an incidence as high as Dr. Andrews' letter would seem to suggest would not fit with our observations so far.
