CONGENITAL ABNORMALITIES OF PULMONARY VESSELS AND THEIR RELATION TO MALFORMATIONS OF THE LUNG

Charlotte Ferencz M.D.1

1 Department of Pediatrics, University of Buffalo, School of Medicine, and the Edward J. Meyer Memorial Hospital, Buffalo

The common embryologic origin of various pulmonary malformations has been reviewed. Reported cases have been discussed with reference to the pulmonary and/or cardiovascular consequences of the malformations. Available hemodynamic data have been tabulated and analyzed. A plea is made for the accurate observation and careful recording of anatomic, clinical and physiologic data that will permit a better understanding of the nature and course of congenital malformations of the lung.
