I was surprsied to find that Bleck and Headley (Treatment and Parent Counseling for the Preschool Child with Cerebral Palsy. Pediatrics, 27:1026, 1961) do not include a pediatrician in the school staff. The only medical person mentioned is an orthopedic surgeon, who directs the physical and occupational therapists.
It hardly seems necessary to repeat that the pediatrician, as a result of his orientation and training, is excellently qualified to supervise and co-ordinate the many medical (neurology, orthopedics, special senses, physical medicine, psychiatrists, etc.) and paramedical disciplines concerned with cerebral palsy.
