In the preface the author outlines the origin of this excellent, useful book. Starting as a guidance outline for residents at the Peter Bent Brigham and West Roxbury Veterans Administration Hospitals, it has had, since its inception, the advantage of constant critical review.
The text contains a remarkable amount of crisp information of a technical and practical nature, which is of considerable value to the student of vascular surgery at any level. Since no attempt is made by the author to cover cardiac surgery, the book is of somewhat limited pediatric interest.
The author has avoided encrusting his outline text with discussions of controversial practices.
