Pathologie Und Klinik Des Salz-Und Wasserhaushaltes

GILBERT B. FORBES M.D.

A quarter century ago, in a short article "Über die Beziehungen zwischen Salz- und Wasserhaushalt bei experimentellen Wasserverlusten", the author of the present work announced to the medical world the fact that two types of clinical dehydration could be distinguished the difference lying in whether the primary deficit was one of salt or of water. The ensuing years have witnessed a continuing study by Professor Kerpel-Fronius of the various phenomena—both clinical and physiologic—associated with disturbances of electrolyte and water metabolism. Much of his own work is reviewed in this book, some of it previously reported in journals not readily available in this country.
