The Concept of Development
The pediatrician is reminded frequently of the necessity of being familiar with concepts and characteristics of human growth and development. In his training, his practice and his Board examinations he faces a variety of problems which test his knowledge in these areas. Too often he feels uncomfortable in his attempts at formulating solutions to these problems. His discomfiture and lack of skill are frequently due to the fact that in his training he has little direction and guidance in ways of coping with questions of growth and development.
