With the improvement of diagnostic methods and surgical procedures for recognition and alleviation of congenital malformations, the interest of physicians in morphologic deviations of development has increased in recent years. A monograph on congenital malformations of the lungs will be welcomed by many clinical students of this field.
In the introduction the authors review the classifications of pulmonary malformations established by other writers and then offer a classification of their own. The first chapter deals with the embryology of the respiratory apparatus and the changes occurring at and after birth.
