Bone Structure and Metabolism

I. V. PONSETI M.D.

Under the auspices of the Ciba Foundation 28 leading scientists met in London in July, 1955, to present papers and discuss current problems dealing with the structure and metabolism of bone. The proceedings of these meetings are compiled in a "Ciba Foundation Symposium." There were many important presentations.

Arne Engstrom applied his methods of quantitative roentgen microscopy to osseous tissues. The slowly mineralized structures in bone tissue are in a state of very rapid cxchange with body fluids and act as an effective ion-exchange column.
