Presidential Badge, British Paediatrics Association

JOHN CRAIG M.D.1

1 President, British Paediatrics Association, Aberdeen, Scotland

It occurs to me that I have seen no mention in Pediatrics of the badge of the British Paediatric Association which was acquired 4 years ago as part of a memorial to Sir Leonard Parsons.

We had plans for a medallion to be struck but eventually a medal of the Mother and Child by Louis Oscar Roty (done in 1897) was acquired. Dr. Bernard Schlesinger was largely responsible for its acquisition; and he put us further in his debt by presenting the Association with a fine leather-bound book which is written in copperplate handwriting and describes the life and work of Roty.
