IN-VITRO EVALUATION OF NEPHROTOXIC SERA IN EXPERIMENTAL NEPHROSIS

Michael B. Rothenberg M.D.1, Abram B. Stavitsky V.M.D.1, and Walter Heymann M.D.1

1 Departments of Pediatrics and Microbiology, Western Reserve University School of Medicine

Boyden's hemagglutination method with the modifications described by Stavitsky and Adler has been used for the evaluation of the nephrotoxicity of rabbit anti-rat kidney sera. Results of 81 determinations on 43 nephrotoxic sera and 10 control sera indicate a useful correlation between nephrotoxicity and hemagglutination titer.
