Irving F. Burton M.D.1 and Allen Sosin M.D.1

1 Division of Pediatrics, Harper Hospital, Detroit

A case of staphylococcus infection in a 2-week-old infant is presented. There was clinical evidence of lethal toxin, dermonecrotoxin, leukocidin, erythrolysin, fibrinolysin and hyaluronidase (spreading factor). The latter 2 exotoxins were manifested as an erysipelas. A brief discussion of a possible source of this organism and the clinical manifestations of these exotoxins is presented.
