Walter J. O'Connor M.D.1, Albert W. Cook M.D.1, and Andrew W. Bedo M.D.1

1 The Departments of Pediatrics and Neurosurgery, State University of New York, College of Medicine, Pediatric Service, University Division, Kings County Hospital, Brooklyn, N.Y.

A correct preoperative diagnosis of the nature of mass was not made and the infant died during surgical exploration as a result of air embolism. The embryologic, diagnostic and therapeutic implications are discussed.
