This book is the third in a series of volumes which are collections of revised reprints of papers written by Paul Schilder, Lauretta Bender and Associates; in this way over twenty years' experience with emotionally disturbed children in the Psychiatric Division of Bellevue Hospital is reviewed and the accumulated findings, theories and techniques are presented. There are 10 chapters that embrace about 15 separate topics, some quite abstract and others of practical importance. Schilder's article on the Psychology of the Development of Language and the Symbol is relatively obscure and dogmatic.
