The present edition appears six years after the seventh, It records the recent advances particularly as regards the chapter on infectious fevers, A small pocket-sized textbook without illustrations and bibliography. The text is condensed to barest essentials. It should be useful to undergraduate students and to general practitioners who require a brief descriptive reference. The information seems reliable for such purposes. A short list of prescriptions seems archaic and superfluous.
